Pyrola americana

(American shinleaf, American wintergreen)

Habitat:Coniferous and mixed forests, swamps, woodlands. Grows in several different kinds of forests, including sandy or loamy woods and on shaded stream banks, especially under hardwoods. It usually occurs in non-wetlands, but has been seen occasionally in wetlands, with good drainage.
